For the last several years, members of Congress have introduced legislation to Roll Back the Beer Tax from $18 per barrel to its pre-1991 level of $9 per barrel. Each time, the effort has gathered more and more broad bi-partisan support, indicating that many lawmakers are committed to repealing this antiquated tax.

For the 110th Congress, Senator Ken Salazar (D-CO) introduced S. 1995 which proposes a reduction on beer tax and H.R. 1610 has been introduced by Congressmen Phil English (R-PA) and Earl Pomeroy (D-ND)
